What’s the Art Lottery, you ask?
Well it is your opportunity to take home one of the framed photographs donated by more than 25 photographers. And it is your opportunity to show Braddock the love, since proceeds from the ticket sales will go to support Braddock’s many art and community projects; current and future. The only questions are “when will your number be called?” and “what pieces will be left when it is?”
You * heart * Braddock, really like and appreciate what is going on in our town, the work being done here, so you bought a ticket to participate in the Art Lottery. You wanted to show your love.
You show up to UnSmoke Artspace, enter the gallery, and pick up your ticket
Your ticket is #9. The friends you came with have #11 and #44.
You enjoy food, music, drinks, as you walk around the gallery viewing all the work.
You write down a list of your favorite pieces. The ones you would most like to take home with you.
The Art Lottery begins. All of the ticket numbers are in a bowl.
The first ticket is drawn. It is #3. And #3 has 30 seconds to make their choice.
#3 picks the piece they want off the wall. It is marked with their number. Not one of your favorites so all good so far.
The next ticket is drawn. It is #31. And #31 has 30 seconds to make their choice.
#31 picks the piece they want off the wall. It is marked with their number. You wanted that one. It was your second favorite. But it is gone now. Okay, your favorite is still available.
The next ticket is drawn. It is #11, your friend. And #11 has 30 seconds to make their choice.
#11 picks the piece they want off the wall. It is marked with their number. That was your favorite. But you’re friend got it. At least you’ll get to see it often.
The next ticket is drawn. It is #9. YAY! That’s you!! And now you have 30 seconds to pick your piece.
You pick the piece that is now at the top of your list. It is marked with your number.
Your friend, #44 wanted that one. #17, #46, # 2, and #39 wanted it too! Too bad, it goes home with you at the end of the night. Congratulations!
And so on, and so forth until all the numbers have been called. Then we eat, and drink, and dance some more!!
Art Lottery tickets go on sale Monday August 24, 2009. $45 in advance. $55 at the door. A ticket guarantees you go home with a piece of artwork that night.
